Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to become a professional ballet dancer. But, while spending time with her sister Katie in the Ladies Room movie set, Emily began to be interested in acting. Her career in acting began when she enrolled in classes. In addition, she was offered guest spots on shows from her native Canada. She starred, among other shows, in Are You Fearful of Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp achieved a major breakthrough when he was cast in the WB horror-mystery series Glory Days as Sam Dolan. While the show was praised by critiques, it's poor ratings caused it to be ended after nine short episodes. Despite her May 12th 1986 birthday her actress was offered a role on Everwood on its set as Amy Abbott. The actress was nominated in 4 Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
